Hi, friends!  Although I can’t be there with you in person as you develop your Exhibition projects, I am so excited that I still get to watch your progress through your blog posts (and through the few of you I’ve seen while mentoring for some groups over Skype)!  What makes me most proud is to watch you apply SO many skills you’ve gained throughout your elementary school years into projects that you are passionate about (and that are meaningful for our communities as well)!  I see you:

*Communicating with classmates, teachers, and even adults around the community

*Managing your time

*Asking deep questions, and then more questions based on your answers

*Using your best writing skills as you write reflections and donation letters

*Figuring out solutions to your problems

*Much More!!

Can’t wait for the Exhibition presentation night next week–I’ll have to see if we can arrange some sort of Skyping so I can celebrate and participate with you all!

Today, Lizzie chose to watch a Pixar movie with all the Pixar “shorts” in it.  Consequently, I got a refresher on many of my favorites throughout the years.  A classic that always makes me think about teaching is “For the Birds.”  Check it out below!

What messages do you get from this film?  🙂

By the way, congratulations on completing the DWA yesterday!  Keep up all your efforts on those summative assessment homework projects–I’d love it if you left a comment telling me about your experience, including where you interviewed and what your final thoughts about our Who We Are unit are!!

February 28, 2014

I can’t believe that this is the last day of February already!  Please know that I continue to think of you all every day!!  Good luck on your DWA on Monday!  Be sure to get a good night’s sleep and breakfast, and I know you’ll rock it!

I found yet another wonderfully inspiring video today.  Earlier this year in a Scholastic issue, we read about Malala Yousafzai, a girl from Pakistan. Check out this video to learn more about her experience, and her fight for education!

Last Post for a While

Dear Class (and parents, too),
Since my doctor needs me to stay on bed rest for at least a few more weeks, this will be my last blog post for a while. As such, I want to make it as helpful as possible for homework and events so you can keep using it as a resource!

Before I list those things, though, I have to tell you all how much I miss you every day! This unexpected turn of events completely changed all my teaching plans this year, and it makes me crazy that I can’t spell out a clear plan for you guys or even myself! However, know that no matter what, I have adored getting to know and learn from each one of you this year! Keep up all the amazing efforts this year!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Wade
