February 6, 2013

We had a terrific job finishing our reader’s theaters today! (I recorded the performances–see below to view, and sorry about the sound!)  We also dove much more deeply into our line of inquiry, “Humans have stewardship over resources,” through a video called “The Man Who Planted Trees,” a video on Pompeii, and a discussion on how scientists predict earthquakes/volcanoes.  Click here for information on how we can prepare for the Utah earthquake that scientists predict could happen soon!
P.S. Please remember that this Friday is a minimal day, which means school gets out at 12:30, and no lunch will be served!
P.P.S. To simplify our increasingly complex posts, I’m no longer including the math resources section, but you can look at older posts if you still want to access them!  I am also taking off instructions on Google Earth, but you can still access that in Games & Practice–>Science.

1) Math (7-14 & 7-15): p. 193 all, p. 194 evens.  Also, redo all low-scoring quizzes & practice/watch videos above!
2) Read 20 minutes (and every single day if your reading log grade is a little low to bring that up!)
3) Spelling due Wednesday!

4) Bring or email a current event each day this week for a $100 bonus!

5) Missing work!
6) Pick a person to interview for your wax museum project–any professional who manages resources! Click here for the letter!
7) Practice typing games by going to “Games & Practice”–>”Language Arts.”  Remember that the DWA will be a typed assessment, so any typing practice you put in now will help! (P.S. Each time you bring in a signed note from your parent saying you spent at least 15 minutes practicing, you’ll get a $50 bonus)!
